Jimmie Dale Rice, 71, passed from this life on Wed. December 15, 2015 in St. Francis Hospice House in Indianapolis, IN. after a 5 mo. hard fought battle with metastatic lung cancer with his daughter, Patti Crawford, and his sister Pat Forrest, by his side.

He was born September 1, 1944 in Salem, N.J. to Joseph Robert Rice and Mildred Jeanette Sunderland, Rice, Nelson.

Jimmie Dale grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming and attended Cheyenne East High School. He was the youngest square dance caller in the state of Wyoming during his teen years!  After returning from his 3 year service in the U.S. Army in 1968 he became a long time resident of Marysville, WA. Where he worked as a plumber/pipefitter for about 27 years. He moved to Indianapolis, IN. in 1987 after reuniting with his daughter Patti after 17 years, where he worked as a pipefitter for local 440 until he retired.

He is survived by his wife of seven years, Janis, Whitton, Rice and 1 sister, Patricia (Gary) Forrest of Fort Mill, S.C.

Jimmie leaves behind 6 children, daughters Jean Trinklein of Chalmette, LA., Patti, (Tom) Crawford of Zionsville, and IN., Sarah (Travis McAffee) of Phoenix, AZ., and his sons Jimmie-J. Rice of Everett, WA. Jamie Rice of Lake Stevens, WA., and Bryan (Leslie) Rice in Spokanne, WA., and his daughter in-law, Tammy KStar in Arlington, WA.

4 Step-daughters Stacy (Marion McClaine) of Lebanon, IN., Melissa (Tom) Threlkeld of Cicero, IN., Brandi Whitton and Leslie Whitton of Indianapolis, IN.,

He also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, Blaine Trinklein, and Dylan Cavataio of Chalmette, LA., Brian Winslow and Hunter Winslow of Greencastle, IN., Alex Crawford of Indianapolis, IN., Tyler Puetz of Phoenix, AZ., Asher McAfee of Phoenix, AZ., Shelbie Rice, Tessa Rice, twins, (Reaonna and Ashly Rice), and Brandee Rice of Arlington, WA., Lydian Rice of Lake Stevens, WA., Gwen Rice and Jayce Rice of Spokanne, WA.

Isaac McClaine and Kaleb McClaine of Lebonon, IN., and Lincoln Threlkeld of Cicero, IN.

2 Great grandchildren Carson Winslow of Greencastle, IN., and Braelyn Trinklein of Chalmette, LA.

There was a memorial held Dec. 17, 2015 at The Villas By Water Mark in Zionsville, IN.  In Jimmie’s honor to celebrate his life. He was loved by many of the pipe fitters of local 440 who came to hospice house to say their final goodbye to their good friend. One young man and close friend, Christopher Habig, came to hospice house every day to be with Jimmie and said he thought of him as a dad!

Jimmie loved life, worked hard, and played hard! He loved gardening, barbecuing for family and friends and playing corn hole. Many good times were had in his backyard. His wishes were for his cremains to be scattered over the beautiful Puget Sound area in Washington State that he loved and where he resided for many years.

Our grief may fade, your memory will not. We love you and miss you Jimmie.
